Move your healing through nature.

Nature Based Walk & Talk Therapy.

Serving Northern Westchester and Putnam Valley, New York

Walk-and-talk therapy is psychotherapy that moves—literally. Instead of sitting in a sterile office, we walk side by side in nature, turning the outdoors into a dynamic space for healing. The rhythm of your steps helps unlock thoughts, the fresh air clears mental fog, and the earth beneath you becomes a steadying force.

Nature doesn’t just set the scene—it transforms the therapeutic process. Research shows that time outside lowers stress hormones, sharpens focus, and reconnects us to a deeper of Self, rather than daily worries.

Here, therapy isn’t confined by walls; it’s alive with birdsong, shifting light, and the quiet wisdom of the natural world.

You’re not just talking about change—you’re moving toward it, step by step.

Walk-and-talk therapy is exactly what it sounds like: therapy while walking outdoors. No couch, no buzzing sound machines, no walls—just fresh air and a refreshing way to process thoughts and feelings.

Why nature? Because science backs what we intuitively know:

  • Movement helps thinking – Walking stimulates your mind, making it easier to untangle stuck thoughts.

  • Nature naturally reduces stress – Lower cortisol, sharper focus, less tension in the body.

  • Side-by-side conversation – Less pressure than face-to-face, more openness.

This is for people who:

  • Feel stiff or stagnant in traditional therapy and want a more human feeling to therapy, rather than clinical.

  • Need to get out of their head and into their body.

  • Are tired of talking about change and ready to move toward it.

Not for: People who prefer highly structured, clinical settings or need deep crisis intervention (we can discuss alternatives if needed).

How it works:

  1. We meet at a quiet trail/park.

  2. We walk at your pace—no fitness level required.

  3. You talk, process, and sometimes just breathe.

  4. The movement and space do the rest.

Therapy doesn’t have to feel like a cage. Let’s walk.

Ecotherapy with me: Rewilding the Self

This is more than walk-and-talk therapy outdoors. This is remembering our primal dialogue with the living world.

As your guide & therapist, I work from an animist perspective - I recognize the aliveness in oak roots, crow songs, and mountain winds as kindred consciousness. You don't need to share this belief to benefit; you only need willingness to notice differently.

In our sessions, we:

  • Forest bathe with intention - We'll slow to nature's rhythm, letting cedar resin and birdsong recalibrate your nervous system. Science confirms what indigenous wisdom knew: this innate interconnectedness that we share with nature lowers stress and enhances a sense of belonging.

  • Decode nature's mirror - That squirrel's frantic movements? The patient unfolding of ferns? The cyclical nature of the trees? We'll explore how these reflect your inner landscape, revealing truths talk therapy often misses.

  • Reclaim sacred reciprocity - Childhood wounds taught you separation. Together, we'll practice the ancient art of listening - to your body's wisdom, to the land's teachings, to the dialogue always happening beneath words.

My unique approach weaves:

  • Psychospiritual psychotherapy

  • Animist ways of knowing

  • Somatic (& Spirit) awareness

  • The land's immediate, unfiltered feedback

This work is for those who:

  • Feel the soul-homesickness of modern life, even if you can't name it

  • Suspect healing involves more than analyzing your past

  • Are ready to be witnessed by something wiser than human logic alone

  • Long to trade "self-improvement" for soul remembrance

You'll leave our sessions not just with insights, but with a renewed sense of being held - by your body, by the more-than-human world, by the intelligent aliveness that's been waiting to collaborate in your healing all along.

The oaks are ready to reflect back your wholeness. The stones remember how to ground your story…

Shall we meet them together?

 FAQs

  • While traditional therapy offers a private office, nature doesn’t come with walls—so we work with awareness and adaptability. Here’s how I protect your privacy:

    • No Guarantees, But Smart Choices
I can’t promise complete privacy on public trails, but I can promise we won’t meet at overcrowded spots (looking at you, Breakneck). If a location feels too exposed, we’ll adjust—whether that means changing paths, lowering our voices, or shifting topics.

    • Discreet Signals
If privacy feels compromised (by passersby or even in virtual sessions), we’ll use the phrase “I’m getting sleepy” as a gentle cue to pivot—either in conversation or physically. No explanations needed; just seamless redirection.

    • Your Comfort Comes First
We’ll discuss backup plans during our first session (alternative trails, quiet spots off-path, or switching to virtual if needed). The goal isn’t perfect secrecy—it’s creating enough safety for real work to happen.

Think of it like therapy with weather awareness: we watch the conditions and adapt, but we don’t let the possibility of a cloud stop us from walking.

  • My 48-hour cancellation policy applies regardless of weather—because nature doesn’t offer refunds, and neither can I. That said, here’s how we work with the elements:

    • Rain/Snow Aren’t Automatic Cancellations
Discomfort (in weather and in therapy) can be instructive. With proper gear, we can still meet—sometimes the most powerful sessions happen under grey skies.

    • Your Safety Guides Us
If conditions feel truly unsafe (high winds, extreme cold, bad driving conditions, thunderstorms), we’ll switch to a virtual session for that day. No penalty—just let me know.

    • Come Prepared
Waterproof layers and boots transform the experience. I’ll send gear tips if needed.

The choice is always yours—but remember: There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing (and unwilling hearts).

  • Not at all. This isn’t about hiking or endurance—it’s about therapy that moves at your pace.

    • We walk only as far/as fast as you comfortably can (seated options are always available)

    • No special gear or experience required—just comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing

    • Terrain is always gentle (no steep climbs or rough trails)

    • Sessions adapt to your energy levels—some days we may walk less and pause more to notice, breathe, or reflect

Your body’s wisdom guides us. You’re not here to prove our strength, your here to heal your unseen childhood.

  • This is psychotherapy first—it just happens outdoors. While a walk with a friend might offer support or distraction, our sessions are:

    • Purposefully structured to facilitate healing, with clinical techniques adapted for movement and nature

    • Guided by therapeutic training—I’ll notice and name patterns, ask you intentional questions, and help you process emotions in ways friends typically can’t

    • Focused on your growth, not mutual sharing

The forest becomes our co-therapist, but I’m here to ensure this isn’t just a pleasant stroll—it’s transformational work in a living, breathing space.

    • Water

    • Appropriate clothes for the weather
